Are mercury thermostats dangerous?

As long as a thermostat is intact, mercury isn't dangerous. The electronic and magnetic snap switch thermostats do not contain mercury. The front plate should be removed if the thermostat contains mercury. Mercury can be found in glass bulbs if one or more are inside.
