Can a dehumidifier overheat?

Running a dehumidifier in humid conditions can cause the unit to run non-stop and cause compressor overheating. A room temperature of 65F or above is what most dehumidifiers are designed to work at. Too cold temperatures can cause the coil to freeze up.
