Can a water softener turn water yellow?

There are trace amounts of iron, manganese and naturally occurring organic materials in this discoloration. It is not a health risk. Dissolved iron components are the main cause of the yellowing in some waters, as they simply pass through the softener and can cause the bed to be dirty.
