Can I mix 12 gauge and 14 gauge wire?
mixing NM and 12-gauge. A 15A breaker will protect the 14 and 12 gauge. 14 Ga will be protected by an overcurrent device of 15A and 12GA by 20A according to the code. You must use one or the other if you want to use 14 and 12 behind a 15amp breaker.
