Can oxygen barrier pex be used for plumbing?

Oxygen-barrier PEX shouldn't be installed in domestic plumbing applications because it doesn't have the appropriate approval codes for use with water. Is this true? Oxygen can enter PEX tubing even when it is embedded in a concrete slab, so an oxygen barrier is needed in most heating systems.
