Can you microwave a mason jar without the lid?

Depending on the age of the jar, you may not find the microwave safe symbol. The lids and rings on Mason jars are made of metal and cannot be microwaved. It can be dangerous to get hot containers out of your microwave if you use microwave safe glass.
