Can you put bleach in your cistern?

Chlorine can be used to keep the cistern clean. If you have 100 gallons of water in your cistern, you should add 1% to 8% liquid household bleach for every 100 gallons. The free chlorine residual should be between 0.2 and 2.0 parts per million.
