Can you use too much solder on copper pipe?

Don't give too much solder to the joint. It's tempting to make a small amount of solder into a joint to make sure it doesn't leak. Excess solder can puddle inside pipes, restrict water flow and form small balls that break loose and damage faucet valves. You can use about 1/2 in.
