dishes blocking soap dispenser

The soap dispenser is the slot where the soap is to be set and is held in place by a door cover. This door cover is then opened when the wash cycle is ran. The door can become easily blocked by overfilling the dishwasher or by bigger dishes blocking it. If blocked, your dishes will still be dirty at the end of the cycle due to the soap not being dispersed.

Check Your Diswasher Soap Dispenser

While you can fit a lot of dishes in your machine, overloading it may be why your dishwasher soap dispenser isn’t working. You’ll want to check your soap dispenser for any potential blockages.

How to Check Your Dishwasher Soap Dispenser

  • Open the dishwaser and locate the spot where the soap dispenser lines up when the door is closed.

  • Find any dishes that could be blocking the soap dispenser from opening and pull them out. When you've removed enough to be confident that the dispenser can open, try running the dishwasher again.

If your dishwasher’s soap dispenser isn’t the issue, consider other reasons for why your dishes are coming out dirty.

What To Do About Your Dishwasher Soap Dispenser Not Working

If your dishes are blocking the soap dispenser, simply avoid overloading your machine and try placing dishes away from the dispenser door cover so it can open properly during the wash cycle.
