Do LED ceiling lights need to be earthed?

If there is a metal housing included with the fixture, then the LED lights need to be grounded to prevent electrical shock. However, low voltage LED lights (3–12 volts) don’t need a separate safety ground, as long as they’re fed through a DC adapter.
