Do you need sealant on thermostat gasket?

Usually the new thermostat will have a fiber gasket, but some applications used a RTV. You wouldn't use a seal with a rubber 0-ring. It depends on the gasket for me. I usually don't use any sealant if it's a good thick gasket.
