Does a double breaker mean 240 volts?

Single-pole and double-pole are standard breakers. The single-pole breakers can be used for up to 15 or 20 Amps. Large appliances, like electric dryers and ranges, can be powered by double-pole breakers, which can be rated for 20 to 60 Amps.
