Does the voltage of a capacitor matter?

A 50V rating is what would be used. Unless it is fed 50 volts from a DC power source, a 50-volt rating doesn't mean it can charge up to 50 volts. The maximum voltage that a Capacitor should be exposed to is the one that the Capacitor will charge up to.
