How do i calculate gas pipe size?

Divide the appliance heat input in kilowatts by the calorific value of the gas being burnt to determine the gas-rate for an appliance. In the case of natural gas, this is 38.5MJ/m3. For a 10 kilowatt appliance, the flow rate will be 10 38.6.
