How do I repair an Upper Circulation Pump Assembly in a Dishwasher?

The circulation pump assembly can be accessed and repaired from the top of the dishwasher tub. A failed seal or foreign object can prevent the water from flowing to the spray arms. A failed check valve can stop the dishwasher from draining. If the dishwasher won't drain or the spray arm is weak, it's a good idea to remove the lower spray arm. Water flow to the spray arms or drain pump can be restored by clearing and replacing damaged parts.
