How do I replace a Blower Wheel in a Dryer?

Follow these steps to fix your issue:

  1. Shut off the power

    Plug the dryer in. Shut off the gas if it is a gas dryer. You should wear gloves to protect your hands.

  2. Raise the top panel

    The lint screen needs to be removed from the top panel of the dryer. To remove the 2 screws that secure the lint screen housing to the top panel, use aPhillips screwdriver. To release the clips that lock the top of the dryer in place, push a putty knife under the lid. Put the top against the wall behind the dryer.

  3. Remove the front panel

    The door switch has a locking tab on the wire harness plug. The wire harness should be disconnected. To remove the frontpanel mounting screws from the inside of the cabinet, use a 5/16-inch nut driver. Lift the front panel from the 2 bottom hangers. Put the front panel away.

  4. Remove the drum

    Take a picture of the belt on the idler pulley and the motor pulley so you know how to remove it. To release tension on the belt, push the idler pulley to the right. The drive belt should be removed from the motor pulley. Put the drum out of the dryer. You can lift the drum up and out of the dryer cabinet with the drive belt you just released.

  5. Remove the motor clamp

    You can use a slot screwdriver to release the rear mount on the drive motor. Set it aside after removing the rear clamp.

  6. Loosen the blower wheel

    The back of the blower wheel has a 13/16-inch wrench on top of it. There is a flat portion at the front of the motor. Hold the blower wheel stationary while rotating the drive motor shaft clockwise.

  7. Remove the back panel

    You can remove the back panel if you lower the top panel. The back panel has screws on it. Take the back panel out of the dryer.

  8. Remove the blower wheel

    The air duct has mounting screws on it. Set the airduct aside. To remove the blower wheel from the drive motor shaft, spin it clockwise. The motor shaft can turn with the blower wheel.

  9. Install the new blower wheel

    The motor shaft should be Threaded with the new blower wheel. To tighten it, spin it clockwise. The blower wheel must be tightened on the motor shaft. To tighten the blower wheel, turn the wrench until they stop, then apply moderate force to the shaft. Attach the motor to the mount with the help of the rear mounting clamps. Attach the mounting screw holes with the air duct. The mounting screws should be inserted and tightened firmly. The dryer cabinet should be vacuumed while the cabinet is open.

  10. Reattach the back panel

    The back of the dryer has a panel. The mounting screw holes should be lined up. Attach the mounting screws.

  11. Reinstall the drum

    Pull the top panel against the wall. The drum should be placed on top of the roller on the rear panel. The drive motor and idler pulley can be accessed from the front of the drum. Referred to the digital picture of the configuration, thread the drive belt through the idler pulley The drive belt should be over the motor pulley if you push the idler pulley to the right.

  12. Reinstall the front panel

    The front panel should be on the bottom of the cabinet. Remove the screws from the top of the front panel and place it in the dryer cabinet. The wire harness needs to be plugged into the door switch. The locking tab needs to be engaged properly.

  13. Reassemble the top panel

    Put the top panel in place by lowering it. Attach the screws to the lint duct housing.

60 minutes.

adjustable wrenches, nut driver set, phillips screwdriver, putty knife, slot screwdriver, vacuum cleaner or shop vac, work gloves, wrench set - sae.
