If the door isn't completely shut and latched, the dishwasher won't start. If the door doesn't close, replace the mechanism. If there is a problem with the door latch and switch assembly, it could keep the dishwasher from starting.
Follow these steps to fix your issue:
Shut off electrical power.
The dishwasher should be unplugged or the house circuit breaker turned off. If you can't see the display on the control panel, then the power is disconnected.
Remove the outer door panel and control panel.
The outer door panel doesn't fall if you remove the final 2 screws from the inner door panel. The outer door panel should be separated from the inner door panel and the control panel should be disconnected. Remove the outer door panel and control panel.
Remove the door latch assembly.
Unplug the door switch wire harness. Pull the door latch assembly out of the inner door panel if you want to release the locking tabs.
Install the new door latch assembly.
The locking tab should be engaged when the door latch assembly is inserted. The door switch wire harness needs to be plugged in.
Reinstall the outer door panel and control panel.
If you want to connect the user interface control wire harness, position the outer door panel and control panel close to the inner door. Attach the outer door panel and control panel to the inner door panel by connecting the user interface control wire harness. The mounting screws need to be reinstalled. The longer screws can be used to secure the control panel.
Restore electrical power.
Plug in the dishwasher or reset the house circuit breaker.
Time required: 30 minutes.
You would need the following tools: Torx screwdriver, work gloves.
