How do I replace a Door Lock Assembly in a Front-Load Washer?

Follow these steps to fix your issue:

  1. Unplug the washer.

To completely remove electrical power from the washer, you need to remove the outlet plug from the electrical outlet. You should wear gloves to protect your hands.

  2. Remove the top panel.

Can you work behind the washer if you move it? The back of the washer has 2 screws that hold the top panel. Lift the top panel from the back of the washer.

  3. Remove the door lock assembly.

If the door is locked, you can use a knife to open it. The door lock assembly has mounting screws on it. Attach the wire harness to the door lock assembly.

  4. Install the new door lock assembly.

The door lock assembly has a wire harness. Attach the door lock assembly to the mounting screws.

  5. Reinstall the top panel.

To seat the washer frame, push the panel down and forward. The back panel needs to be secured with screws. Don't over tighten.

  6. Restore the power.

The electrical outlet should be plugged into the washer. The washer must be returned to its original location.

Time required: 30 minutes.

You would need the following tools: phillips screwdriver, work gloves.
