A safety gas valve and glow-bar oven igniter are included in most gas ovens. The components are connected in an electrical circuit. The safety gas valve opens when the glow-bar oven igniter is sufficiently hot to safely ignite the gas. If the oven igniter doesn't glow or isn't hot enough to open the gas valve, you should replace it. There is a separate igniter for the bake burner and the Broil burner in some ovens.
It's possible that the oven door lock assembly has failed and needs to be replaced if the oven doesn't automatically lock when you start the self- clean cycle or if it doesn't open after cooling to room temperature. If the child lock-out doesn't work on an oven that has that feature, you should replace it.
The bake element at the bottom of the oven and the broil element at the top of the oven provide heat for baking and broiling in an electric oven. If the oven isn't heating properly, you should replace them.
Follow these steps to fix your issue:
Turn off power to the wall oven
The wall oven's circuit breakers need to be shut off. The electric wall ovens use 2 breakers that are often connected together. If the wall oven breakers are not connected, turn them off. Even though the digital display is dead, a breaker can still send power to the broil element.
Remove the broil element
The oven door can be opened and the oven rack can be removed. The broil mounting screws need to be removed. Remove the supports and screws from the broil element. Attach the wires to the back of the element by pulling the broil element forward. Take care not to let the wires slip through the holes in the back of the oven. If the wires slip through the holes, you will need to pull the oven out of the cabinet and remove the back cabinet panel. If necessary, pull the wires from the broil element with pliers. The broil element can be removed. Remove the door if you can't complete the repair because it gets in your way. Help lifting the door off the oven is needed. The door needs to be on a pad.
Install the new broil element
The wires need to be connected to the broil element. Remove the mounting screws from the oven cavity and push the ends of the broil element through them. Attach the supports with the screws. Remove the oven rack and close the door.
Restore power to the wall oven
The wall oven requires the house circuit breaker to be turned on.
You would need the following tools:
nut driver set, pliers, work gloves.
