How do I replace a Door Spring in a Dishwasher?

Follow these steps to fix your issue:

  1. Shut off electrical power and water supply to the dishwasher

If you want to completely cut off electrical power to the dishwasher, you can flip the house circuit breaker switch to the Off position. Make sure the control panel can't be turned on if power is disconnected. The dishwasher has a water supply valve. Shut off the water supply to the dishwasher.

  2. Remove the bottom front access panel and toe panel

The screws that hold the front access panel in place can be removed with a 1/2-inch nut driver. Remove the access panel and the toe panel and put them away.

  3. Pull out the dishwasher

There is a junction box at the front of the dishwasher. The wires need to be disconnected from the junction box. The dishwasher is secured in the cabinet opening with 2 mounting screws. From under the counter, pull the dishwasher out. If you don't have enough slack in the water supply line and the drain hose, you won't be able to pull the dishwasher in front of the counter. If you have enough slack in the electrical supply wiring, you can pull out the dishwasher.

  4. Remove the springs

There is a door on the dishwasher. The position of the spring on the front and rear brackets can be seen if the spring is intact. The proper opening-closing tension should be provided by the new tension spring. Release the spring with pliers. Remove the door spring from the dishwasher. The dishwasher has a spring on the other side. There is tension in the spring. Caution should be used when releasing the spring because it can snap and hit your hand.

  5. Attach the new springs

Attach the new springs to the hinges the same way they were installed. Place the springs on the brackets at the back of the dishwasher using pliers.

  6. Reinstall the dishwasher

Push the dishwasher under the counter. Remove the junction box cover and connect the wires to the junction box. Attach the dishwasher to the counter with mounting brackets and tighten the screws. The access panel should be positioned in front of the toe panel on the dishwasher. The screws need to be inserted and tightened firmly. Refer to the dishwasher's installation manual for more information.

  7. Restore the water supply and electrical power

To restore the water supply to the dishwasher, open the water supply valve. The house circuit breaker needs to be reset. Check the dishwasher for leaks. It's a good idea to check the dishwasher seals for leaks.
