How do I replace a Drive Belt in a Sewing Machine?

Motor rotation is transferred to the hand wheel and upper shaft from the drive belt. The hand wheel will not move if the belt breaks. If the drive belt is worn or broken, you should replace it.

Follow these steps to fix your issue:

  1. Shut off the electricity

The sewing machine has a power cord.

  2. Remove the drive belt cover

Pull the belt cover off the sewing machine by removing the screws.

  3. Remove the drive belt

To release the belt tension, you need to loosen the 2 motor mounting screws. The drive belt should be removed from the hand wheel.

  4. Install the new drive belt

Put the drive belt under the motor pulley and roll it onto the hand wheel. To tighten the motor mounting screws, pivot the drive motor and apply slight tension to the belt.

  5. Reinstall the belt cover

Attach the belt cover to the sewing machine.

  6. Restore power

The sewing machine needs to be plugged into an electrical outlet.

Time required:

15 minutes.

You would need the following tools:

phillips screwdriver, work gloves.
