How do I replace a Dryer Door Switch in a Laundry Center?

Follow these steps to fix your issue:

  1. Shut off the power

The laundry center needs to be unplugged. Shut off the gas supply if the dryer uses gas. Gloves protect your hands.

  2. Release the control panel

Pull off the front access panel by removing the mounting screws. Control panel mounting screws need to be removed. Release the control panel from the laundry center frame by pulling it down. The control panel should hang by the wires below the dryer front panel.

  3. Remove the dryer door switch

You can open the dryer door. Push the door switch through the front of the panel if you reach behind the dryer front panel. The door switch wires need to be disconnected.

  4. Install the new door switch

The wires should be connected to the door switch. The front dryer panel has a door switch on it.

  5. Reinstall the control panel

The control panel can be pushed onto the laundry center frame. Remove the control panel mounting screws. Put the front access panel back in place by securing it with the mounting screws.

  6. Restore power to the laundry center

The laundry center should be plugged into the wall outlet. The gas supply should be turned on if the dryer uses gas.
