How do I replace a User Interface Control Board in a Window Air Conditioner?

The control panel houses the user interface control board. The control board has a wire harness connecting it to the user interface control board. The user interface control board should be replaced if the selection buttons don't respond.

Follow these steps to fix your issue:

  1. Disconnect electrical power

The wall outlet has a power cord.

  2. Remove the front grille panel and filter

Pull the air conditioner panel out of the front grille panel if you want to. The filter needs to be removed. If necessary, clean the air filter.

  3. Remove the control panel

The control panel has screws on it. Hold the control panel above the air conditioner. The user interface control board has a wire harness connection. The control panel should be on the work surface.

  4. Remove the user interface control board

If you want to open the user interface control case, you need to remove the screws. There are mounting screws on the user interface control board. Release the wire harness from the plastic retainers on the control panel by removing the user interface control board from the case.

  5. Install the new user interface control board

Attach the control board to the case with screws. The wire harness should be routed through the plastic retainers on the control panel. Put the screws back on the sides of the case.

  6. Reinstall the control panel

Plug the user interface control wire harness back in if you position the control panel above the air conditioner. The control panel should be positioned on the front of the air conditioner.

  7. Reinstall the front grille panel and filter

The front of the air conditioner has a filter. Attach the front grille panel to the air conditioning unit.

  8. Restore the power

Attach the air conditioner to the electrical outlet.

Time required:
