How do I replace a Valve Motor in a Water Softener?

The water softener's functions are performed by rotating the valve motor to perform the functions. The valve motor will not move the valve. The valve motor should be replaced if it doesn't move when activated.

Follow these steps to fix your issue:

  1. Disconnect electrical power

Shut off the power to the water softener.

  2. Remove the top cover

Release the 2 front clips on the cover when you open the lid. Lift the front of the cover to release the tabs. Pull the top cover off.

  3. Remove the valve motor

The valve assembly has screws that hold the valve motor to it. Plug the wires that connect the timer to the valve motor. The valve assembly has a valve motor.

  4. Install the new valve motor

Attach the valve motor to the assembly with the mounting screws. The valve motor wire needs to be plugged.

  5. Reinstall the top cover

Put the back of the top cover into the rear tabs and push the front of the top cover into the locking clips. Don't open the lid.

  6. Restore power

The power cord needs to be plugged in again.

Time required:

30 minutes.

You would need the following tools:

phillips screwdriver, work gloves.
