How do I replace a Washer Drain Pump in a Laundry Center?

The dryer drive belt moves the rotation of the drive motor to the dryer drum. The motor won't run if the drive belt breaks. You should replace the dryer drive belt if it's broken.

When the load is slightly off balance, the tub support assembly can move by using the snubber ring. The tub will bang against the side of the washer cabinet if the snubber ring is not replaced.

Follow these steps to fix your issue:

  1. Shut off the power.

The laundry center needs to be unplugged. Shut off the gas if the dryer uses it. Gloves protect your hands. Water can be removed from the washer.

  2. Remove the washer front panel.

There are 2 screws in the front panel. Pull off the front panel when you disengage the mounting tabs.

  3. Remove the drain pump hoses.

To catch water from the hoses, place a towel under the pump. Remove the hoses from the drain pump. If there is a spilled water, wipe it up.

  4. Remove the drain pump.

The wires from the drain pump need to be disconnected. Pull the plastic shield off the pump by releasing the mounting tab. Pull out the drain pump with the help of the pump mounting screws.

  5. Install the new drain pump.

Put the new drain pump on the washer base. Remove the plastic shield from the pump. The wires need to be connected to the drain pump.

  6. Reconnect the drain pump hoses.

Remove the drain pump hoses and put them back in place.

  7. Reinstall the washer front panel.

The front panel mounting tabs need to be pushed into the slots on the frame. If you want to engage the mounting tabs, put the front panel up slightly.

  8. Restore power to the laundry center.

The laundry center should be plugged into the wall outlet. The gas supply should be turned on if the dryer uses gas.

  9. Shut off the power.

Unplug the laundry center. Shut off the gas supply for the dryer. Gloves are used to protect hands. When moving the laundry center, have a helpers help you.

  10. Remove the rear access panel.

Pull the laundry center away from the wall with your helpers. Pull off the access panel if you want to remove the screws from the rear access panel.

  11. Remove the heat shield.

Pull off the panel if you want to remove the mounting screws. Pull the heat shield off by removing the mounting screws.

  12. Release the control panel.

The control panel is mounted to the laundry center frame. Release the control panel from the laundry center frame by pulling it down. The control panel should hang by the wires below the dryer front panel.

  13. Remove the front panel.

The front panel has 2 mounting screws. Plug the door switch wire harness back in. Pull off the front panel after removing the 4 mounting screws.

  14. Remove the dryer drive belt.

Release the drive belt from the motor pulley if the belt is not broken. Pull the drive belt out of the dryer after raising the dryer drum slightly.

  15. Install the new dryer drive belt.

The drum should be raised from the front of the dryer. You can route the belt around the motor pulley from the back of the dryer.

  16. Reinstall the front panel.

Put the front panel on the laundry center frame. Remove the door switch wire harness. The front panel has screws on it.

  17. Reinstall the control panel.

Put the control panel into the laundry center frame.

  18. Reinstall the heat shield.

The heat shield should be on the frame. The laundry center frame has a front access panel.

  19. Reinstall the rear access panel.

Put the motor access panel in the rear panel of the dryer. The laundry center needs to be moved back in place.

  20. Restore power to the laundry center.

The laundry center should be plugged into the wall outlet. The gas supply should be turned on if the dryer uses gas.
