How do I replace a Washer Lid Lock Switch in a Laundry Center?

Follow these steps to fix your issue: 1. Shut off the power.

The laundry center needs to be unplugged. Shut off the gas supply if the dryer uses gas.
  1. Remove the washer front panel.

There are 2 screws at the bottom of the front panel. Pull off the front panel when you disengage the mounting tabs.

  2. Remove the lid lock switch.

The wires are on the lid lock switch. There are screws under the front corners of the panel. Remove the lid lock mounting screws if you lift the top panel up. The lid lock switch can be removed.

  3. Install the new lid lock switch.

Place the lid lock switch under the top washer panel. The top panel should be lower. The wires are connected to the lid lock switch. Remove the screws from the top panel.

  4. Reinstall the washer front panel.

The front panel mounting tabs need to be pushed into the slots on the frame. If you want to engage the mounting tabs, put the front panel up slightly.

  5. Restore power to the laundry center.

The laundry center should be plugged into the wall outlet. The gas supply should be turned on if the dryer uses gas. Time required: 15 minutes. You would need the following tools: #2 square-head screwdriver, work gloves.
