How do I replace a Water Inlet Valve in a Dishwasher?

The valve that controls the flow of water into the dishwasher is called a water inlet valve. The water can't flow into the dishwasher if the water inlet valve isn't open. One sign that the water level is low is a noisy pump. When the dishwasher is on, water fills the dishwasher tub even if the water inlet valve is not closed. The water inlet valve can be repaired or replaced if it doesn't open or close correctly.

Follow these steps to fix your issue:

  1. Shut off electrical power and water supply to the dishwasher

Shut off the house circuit breaker if you want to unplug the dishwasher. The control panel should not light up if you press a control button or the power button. The dishwasher has a water supply valve. Shut off the water supply to the dishwasher.

  2. Remove the outer door panel and control panel

The dishwasher door can be opened by removing the screws from the inner door panel. The outer door panel needs to be supported with one hand as you remove the last 2 screws. The outer door panel should be separated from the inner door panel and the control panel should be disconnected from the control panel. Remove the outer door panel.

  3. Remove the bottom front access panel and toe panel

The screws that hold the toe panel in place should be removed using a nut driver. The access panel and the toe panel need to be removed.

  4. Disconnect the water supply line

A towel is under the water inlet valve. The inlet valve assembly has a dishwasher water supply line. If you have spilled water, wipe it down.

  5. Remove the water inlet valve

Pull the water inlet valve out of the mounting bracket after removing the water inlet valve mounting screw. The wire harness and water inlet tube connections can be accessed from the water inlet valve. Remove the locking tab from the water inlet valve wire harness. Pull the inlet tube off the water inlet valve. The water inlet valve should be removed.

  6. Install the new water inlet valve

To connect the water inlet tube to the new water inlet valve, you need to secure it with the wire. Attach the wire harness. The water inlet valve can be secured with the mounting screw.

  7. Connect the water supply line

Use channel-lock pliers to tighten the water valve after connecting the water supply line. Check the water supply line connection for leaks. The water supply line needs to be tightened. Check the water supply line connection for leaks. The water supply line needs to be tightened.

  8. Reinstall the bottom front access panel and toe panel

Put the access panel in front of the toe panel on the dishwasher. Put the screws in and tighten them.

  9. Reinstall the outer door panel and control panel

If you want to connect the user interface control wire harness, position the outer door panel and control panel close to the inner door. Attach the outer door panel and control panel to the inner door panel by connecting the user interface control wire harness. The mounting screws need to be reinstalled. The longer screws can be used to secure the control panel.

  10. Restore electrical power

Plug in the dishwasher or reset the house circuit breaker.
