How do I replace an Electronic Control Board in a Dishwasher?

The dishwasher functions are run by the electronic control board. The control board should be replaced if it is malfunctioning.

Follow these steps to fix your issue:

  1. Shut off electrical power.

The dishwasher should be unplugged or the house circuit breaker turned off. Make sure the control panel doesn't light up when you press a control button to verify that power is disconnected.

  2. Remove the outer door panel and control panel.

The dishwasher door can be opened with the removal of the screws from the inner door panel. The outer door panel needs to be supported with one hand as you remove the last two screws. The outer door panel should be separated from the inner door panel and the control panel should be disconnected. Remove the outer door panel and control panel.

  3. Remove the electronic control board.

Lift the locking tab and then release the control board from the inner door panel. Remove the electronic control board cover. The wire harness is connected to the box cover. The control board wires need to be disconnected.

  4. Install the new electronic control board.

The electronic control board has a cover. The new control board needs to be connected to the electronic control board. Attach the wire harness box cover. The control board cover needs to be reinstalled. The electronic control board should be pushed into the mounting slots and slid to the right to engage the locking tab.

  5. Reinstall the outer door panel and control panel.

If you want to connect the user interface control wire harness, position the outer door panel and control panel close to the inner door. Attach the outer door panel and control panel to the inner door panel by connecting the user interface control wire harness. The mounting screws need to be reinstalled. The longer screws can be used to secure the control panel.

  6. Restore electrical power.

Plug in the dishwasher or reset the house circuit breaker.

Time required: 30 minutes.

You would need the following tools: nut driver set, slot screwdriver, Torx screwdriver, work gloves.
