How do I troubleshoot Kenmore 363 Electronic Control Model Dishwasher that is displaying C5 error code?

The dishwasher's water supply needs to be open. If the overfill float switch is stuck in the up position, the dishwasher will not be able to fill properly. Shut off the water supply and look at the inlet water valve when you unplug the dishwasher. The water valve should be replaced if the inlet screen is blocked because debris could enter the valve body and cause it to flood. Make sure the wiring on the inlet water valve is secure. The water valve needs to be replaced if it won't open when activated.
