How do you adjust the airflow on a wood stove?

The front and flue damper should be open. Light the fire by putting wood inside the firebox. Before adjusting the dampers, allow the fire to burn for between 10 to 30 minutes. Smoke escapes from the chimney when the front damper is closed.
