How do you defrost a drain pipe?

Pour hot water into a pitcher and funnel it into the center pipe to thaw the drain. The tube will inch down the drain when the hot water begins to melt the ice. The cooled water will be forced into the outer pipe as you pour the hot water down the center pipe.
