How do you fix a broken drain pipe in the wall?

Use a saw to cut out sections of the damaged wallboard. Wrap a sheet around the pipe so it doesn't get wet. The container should be under the broken pipe. The pipe needs to be cut. The pipe needs to be dried. Use a pipe cutter to cut above the leak. Clean the pipe. A copper repair sleeve is needed.
