How do you remove an old bathtub faucet stem?

It's possible to remove it with a special bath sockets wrench. To break the stem loose, put the bath sockets on the stem bonnet and turn it clockwise. If it sticks, apply penetrating lubricant to it. Remove the stem with a screwdriver.
