How do you size a hydraulic hose?

The I.D. refers to a dash size. A fitting in 1/6ths of an inch. The -5 hose would show a hose with I.D. That's either 6/16" or 3/8". Tubes are measured by their outside diameter, whereas hoses are measured by their inside diameter.
