How do you tell if an outlet is grounded?

There are two probes of the circuit tester, one in the small slot and one in the large probe. You have power to the outlet if the circuit tester lights up. One probe should be placed in the small slot and the other in the "U" shaped ground hole. If the outlet is grounded, the indicator should light up.
