How do you test a 240 volt outlet with a multimeter?
Set your multimeter to 120 volts by turning the dial. The metal tip of the red probe should be put into the slanted 120-volt slots and the metal tip of the black probe should be put into the ground slot. 120 volts AC is what your multimeter should read. If that circuit does not work, then it is faulty.
