How do you test a low oil sensor on a generator?

The generator needs to be placed on a level surface. Is that correct? Remove the wire from the engine oil switch. Is that correct? The ohmmeter needs to be set to the lowest setting. Is that correct? When draining the engine oil, make sure to check the continuity; there should be no more than 2 ohms of resistance.
