How do you test an ungrounded GFCI?

Robert's point is that even if it is ungrounded, a GFI will trip if tested with a built-in test button. Since the plug-in tester needs a real ground for the test button to function, it will not trip if it is ungrounded. A ground is not provided by an ungrounded GFI.
