How do you use a cooking thermometer?

As the food cooks, the dial oven-safe thermometers are in place. If you want to read in one to two minutes, insert two to two and a half inches deep into the food. Roasts, casseroles and soups can be prepared with this type of thermometer. They don't work for thin foods.
