How do you wire a 110 outlet to a 220 outlet?

Most of the time, 220 wire has a red and black hot conductor, a white neutral and a green ground. You just need one hot wire for the new receptacle, so screw a wire cap onto the red wire and push it back in the box. You can connect 10-gauge wires to a new receptacle.
