How do you wire a central air conditioner thermostat?

Common wire may not be used by your thermostat. The power from the transformer is red. Red, Rc, 24VAC is dedicated to heat call. Green, G, Fan, is dedicated to cooling call. White is a heat color. An air conditioner is yellow or Y.
