How does a heat pump work for air conditioning?

A heat pump works in the same way as an air conditioner to provide heat. In warm weather, the heat pump absorbs heat from the air inside and moves it outside to provide air conditioning. In cooler weather, the heat pump provides heat by moving heat from the air outside to the inside.
