How does a pop up drain with overflow work?

It is located around the upper rim so that you don't have to worry about losing water. The hole is routed through the inside of your bathroom through small hoses and into the same pipe as the basin drain. Water from a backed up area can be avoided by connecting the overflow drain below the drain.
