How does a top lock nut work?

The locking action, created by the distortion of their superior wires, is supposed to resist the release caused by shocks, vibrations and other dynamic forces. Since they are locked at the top and only the lower surface is flat, the predominant torque locking nuts are considered as single-sense locking nuts because they are installed at the top of a single track.
