How does auto defrost work in refrigerator?

The Auto Defrost feature uses a heating element inside the fridge to warm up the appliance during the defrost cycle. There is a hole at the bottom of the cabinet that can be used to drain ice build up. The water is collected in a tray and then evaporated behind the appliance.
