How high is a vaulted ceiling?

If your home is a modest-size, single-story tract home with standard 8-foot ceilings, it's a good candidate for vaulting a ceiling. A new ceiling that's 11 to 12 feet high at its peak can be created by vaulting a 20-by-20-foot room.
