How is a gfci different from a circuit breaker?

Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter. A circuitbreaker. Is that correct? The current coming from the Load is monitored by the GFCI and compared to the current coming from the black wire. The GFCI will turn off the circuit if there is a difference between the two.
