The world had 1.7297 trillion barrels of crude oil left at the end of the year, according to the latest Statistical Review of World Energy. It was up from the previous year's figures of 1.7275 trillion barrels and 1.4938 trillion barrels. In 1998, the world had more than a trillion barrels in remaining reserves.
