How many BTUs do I need for a gas oven?

The range of power for a residential gas stove is from 400 to 18,000 BTUs. The lower the flame, the lower the output. The higher the flame, the higher the output. Even though the burner might have an 18,000 BTU capacity, a low flame on the stove may only use 400 BTUs.
