How many fires are caused by stoves?

A stove fire is most likely caused by overheated oil or grease, and using water will make the problem worse. There were around 630,000 reported residential fires in 2016 that were caused by cooking fires. The National Fire Protection Association says 700 deaths and 6,500 injuries were caused by this.
